Melanie C June 28 2008 Toronto

For the sixth time this year and the second time as a solo artist Melanie C played Toronto this weekend. She was at Welsley station were she performed a free concert to a jammed packed house of about three thousand people. Despite the sweltering heat (about 32 °C) she put on a fantastic show and played for just over an hour. A great time was had by all. Besides the picture above I took many other photos at the show, the link to the albumn is below.

A Flock of Seagulls debute albumn

A sound the defined a genre and a band that defined all that was great about the 1980's. Never reaching their true potential, the most underrated band not just of the 80's but of All Time. This was their debut album and it is almost perfect. You'll never hear another band that defined the New Wave movement so completely and perfectly as A Flock Of Seagulls. Through their music and lyrics they captured the excitement of a generation emerging from the doldrums of the 70's into a brave new world. Not only does this album contain "I Ran" which is THE anthem song of the 1980's but also many other fantastic songs like "DNA", "Telecommunication", "Modern Love is Automatic" and my personal favorite " Space Age Love Song". It's a MUST HAVE for anyone who likes the New Wave genre a testament to a time of explosive creativity were bands were free to explore new idea's, new sound, and of course new looks... perhaps this album could even be considered a historical document, as I believe it is also an important album in the evolution music...

The Return Of The Spice Girls

Off Topic Alert

I took my girlfriend to see this show and I meant to get around to writing something about it sooner but just never seem to find the time. I'm used to going to concerts like Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and the Scorpions so this was kinda different. The Spice Girls finished their reunion world tour in Toronto February 26 2008 playing the final of four completely sold out shows at the Air Canada Center. Not only was I there but I had like 5th row center floors, three rows in front of me sat Simon Fuller. ( no I'm not bullshitting you). I acquired these amazing tickets quite by chance. Judging from the ear-piercing shrieks of 20,000 fans they didn't disappoint. The show was easily one of the best productions I have ever seen — a spectacular display, a sensory feast of a show that went off without a hitch. Two hours before show time, throngs of fans ( mostly female ) waited in line sang Spice Girls’ songs at the top of their lungs. Once inside, excited girls — a lot of them in makeshift Union Jack dresses and sequins — rushed merchandise tables with such urgency that more than one seller had to yell at them to get back!!!. If you weren’t carrying a glow stick, you were probably someone’s mother. By the time the Spice Girls appeared shortly after 8 p.m., the fans were screaming as if the freakin Beatles themselves had reunited. Following a spectacular video and light show, the five emerged like superheroes on risers — singing their signature hit, “Spice Up Your Life.” They disappeared behind big screens and came back out for another hit, “Stop" They tore through all the hits, including the new one, “Headlines,” as well as solo material such as Melanie Chisholm’s (Sporty Spice) hit song “I Turn To You.” It was an absolutely amazing show and the final one in a tour that originally was only meant included 11 dates, but because of the demand it expanded to an incredible 33 dates in just over two months. Below I've included a 2 minute video clip of the opening video light show that was filmed by a fan, this footage was filmed in London, not Toronto but it was exactly the same as the Toronto ...enjoy....Ohhh...one more thing..."YES!!! the really do sing.

NBA CORRUPTION ?

Once again not a topic I generally discuss, but what the hell, its my blog and I can pretty much post whatever the hell I want. I guess we're all aware of Tim Donaghy the NBA referee who faces prison after admitting to gambling on games. This week he pretty much exposed what most Sacramento fans (and basketball fan in general) already know but have never been able to prove. The fix was in during Game 6 of a 2002 playoffs between The Kings and the Lakers. Admittedly Tim Donaghy does not specify the teams or the referees that were involved. But the Los Angeles Lakers-Sacramento Kings series was the only one in 2002 to go seven games. Whats more it's been alleged that David Stern the commissioner and his team of Elitist NBA pigs...errr.. I mean Executives were directly involved in making sure that there was at the very least a game seven and preferably a Laker advance into the finals. Of course I'm just tellin you what I read, I'm not trying to point any fu*ckin fingers here, you decide for yourself. But like my daddy used to say if it looks like shit, feels like shit and smells like Shit, then guess what...IT'S SHIT !!!

Ed McMahon bankrupt ?

LOL...OK, I'll admit I'm not the sharpest pencil in the case so perhaps I'm missing something here, but could someone please explain to me how a guy who should be worth 200+ million can get $644,000 behind on his mortgage payments. The guys going bloody bankrupt after years and years of making more money than God. McMahon bought the six-bedroom, five-bathroom, 7,000-square-foot house in January 1990. The mansion, which is listed at $6.25 million, is in a gated hilltop section off Mulholland Drive called The Summit. Britney Spears is among his neighbors. Of course when asked about his money problems he sighted the usual bullshit, the economy, divorce, legal cost for various endeavours including the home witch he's been trying to sell. Call me a cold hearted bastard if ya want but I hope they foreclose on his ass and throw him out on the street.

Katee "Starbuck" Sackoff. says goodbye

Directly from the Philadelphia Inquirer Saturday May 31st..."As sci-fi fans begin the process of mourning the demise of BSG, Sackhoff will bid adieu to her fans with an appearance at the Convention Center from noon to 4 p.m. tomorrow as part of the three-day sci-fi confab, Wizard World Philadelphia. "I'm ready to move on from Starbuck," Sackhoff says."And that means all the things that go along with her" - including sci-fi conventions." ...Not that I don't think she has a career after Battlestar Galactica because I seriously think she does, Katee is a very beautiful and talented actress. But that said staring roles in hit TV shows are normally few and far in between, plus Hollywood (including Hollywood north) can be an extremly fickle town. My advice to Ms Sackhoff is don't be in too big a hurry to hang up that flight suit. Sci-fi Geeks...errr I mean fans will always be there for you, Hollywood most certainly WILL NOT. Once the looks fade and the roles stop coming the Sci-Fi fan will still line up to see you ...unless of course you piss them off.

Transformers is the winner 2008

Megan Fox, one of the stars of the
film poses with the Best Movie award.

LOL...that's too funny "Transformers" is the winner of best movie of the year at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. Ok. I know I'm not suppose to take these awards too seriously but cummon, gimme a break. This movie sucked, normally I like Michael Bay's work but this film seriously blows.
